View Full Version : North East Meet: Kielder Water/Forest 29/03/08

chambers
27-02-2008, 05:31 PM
Based on yesterdays suggestions and interest I am sorting out a meet at Kielder Water/Forest on Saturday 29/03/08.

The idea is the people from South of the border meet at Newcastle way then head up towards the south of the resivoir then the people North of the border meet and join us by the water. Then travel up the west side of the resivoir, find a place by the water at the north (Kielder) for a BBQ and some banter (there are load of places to park)
Finally continue up through the forrest to the borders if its not to late.

Think that would make it the first C2C meet that crosses countries.

If you would like to attend please put your name down and also if you have any other ideas to develop the meet, also get them posted

The Plan

Everyone meet at Yarrow on the South side of the water at 10:30 (will wait untill 11 for anyone running a bit late) then travel up the road that runs on the West side of the water to Kielder where we can stop for a chat, photos and bite to eat. Bring your own picnic, BBQ etc.

Then a bit later on travel up through the forest and to the borders. Maybe a few more pics there and then time to part.

Hopefully this should be a good chance to get to know some other owners in the region and plan for future meets

If anyone wants to organise a mini convoy from their area, post below to arrange.

England Convoy - 9:45-10:00

For those wanting to drive up with a few others we will be meeting at Errington Arms just outside of Corbridge

Details:-

Yarrow Meeting - 10:30-11:00

No address strictly for this car park so its gonna be head to Yarrow then use you common sense. Its a scenic view point so should make for some good photos before moving up the lake

Hope we do get a few more TBH should still be a good meet tho. Hope the weather keeps up to get some BBQ food on the go too.

Are we just gonna have people bring along a little disposable each and a few sausages or burgers, that way if you dont like the cooking you only have yourself to blame ;-)

Hitty86
06-03-2008, 04:23 PM
lol, i'll just chuck a few burgers under the bonnet on the way up! will still get the charcoal taste too hehe

Moog
06-03-2008, 05:25 PM

14-03-2008, 11:26 AM
Good stuff mate, keeping the numbers up

chambers
14-03-2008, 11:31 AM
Just looking at meeting places etc. How do people feel about meeting at Yarrow at about 10:30-11 (everyone from both sides of the border) then a drive up the west side to Kielder on the North side where we can get something to eat, BBQ etc? Then a drive through the forrest?

chambers
15-03-2008, 06:26 PM

chambers
15-03-2008, 08:29 PM
Will get some postcodes sorted out tomorrow hopefully mate and then add them to the top post.

Dunno if it would be an idea for all the likes of the people form Darlington/Bishp/Sunderland/Necastle area to meet at Newcastle then just all trvel along together and meet the rest?

5598White
15-03-2008, 08:30 PM
Yeah I like that idea

chambers
15-03-2008, 08:32 PM
Good stuff, I will try and sort out an ideal meeting place, give me a day or so :-)

Hitty86
15-03-2008, 09:36 PM

chambers
15-03-2008, 09:38 PM

Hitty86
15-03-2008, 09:40 PM
i just gotta decide which car to take, fabia might be in the garage then, its going in next saturday for a check to see whats wrong then gotta re-book it in to get fixed :(

chambers
15-03-2008, 09:45 PM
Whats up with it mate, get the big wheel put on whilst its in the garage and then spray the vrs wheels dark. If you like them wait a bit and get them poweder coated properly

Hitty86
15-03-2008, 09:50 PM
need to leave original wheels on as its warranty cause its the power steering that playing up! :( .. when the car has been stood for a few hours theres no powersteering for a few minutes, and its very heavy on full lock all the time. Been told by the Skoda forums its a Angle Sensor thats playing up apparently there known for it, been assured its safe to drive but still needs fixing! lol

Moog
18-03-2008, 09:06 PM
Is Yarrow not north of the water mate? Could be wrong but thought it was.

The people coming meeting in town, how are you getting to Kielder? A69, A68? If so, i'll probs meet you's on the A68 near Corbridge/Stagshaw.

Moog
18-03-2008, 09:07 PM
oh, and i've got some black lexus lights to get shifted if anyone is interested. Used but perfect condition.

elniniol999
18-03-2008, 09:10 PM
na yarrow is south of the water, though there is another larger place called yarrow near selkirk.. quite a bit further north though.

Moog
18-03-2008, 09:11 PM
Aye sorry, your right, Yarrow is south. I should really do my research before posting on here.

chambers
18-03-2008, 09:12 PM
Got photos of the lights mate?

No buddy Yarrow is deffinately South, Kielder is North, still got to sort out some meeting places for postcodes etc

Will probs be straight across the A68 I would have thought, how do people from Newcaslte feel about meeting in Corbridge, saves the travel East to have to come back West for me :-)

elniniol999
18-03-2008, 09:12 PM
lol dont worry i do it ALL the time! i had to google map it though because i thought the same as you.

bring them along, someone might be interested when they have a look.. esp after they see them on my c2

Moog
18-03-2008, 09:19 PM
i'll get a photo up tomorrow, i'll bring them along anyhoo. Aye i was thinking of the Yarrow in Scotland, quite a way away.

Hitty86
18-03-2008, 09:21 PM
Corbridge sounds fine to me, are you passing through bishop or going round via the A68?.. if ya going through i could just meet you there, then upto corbridge to meet the rest

chambers
18-03-2008, 09:28 PM
Erm will probs just nip through Bishop for the ease of it tbh

Just updated the first post with maps of the meeting places and times

Moog
18-03-2008, 09:31 PM
Theres a car park on the south side of the tyne, just over the bridge in Corbridge which would be an alright meeting place.

Moog
18-03-2008, 09:32 PM
...Or a couple of miles outside of corbridge, up the A68 theres the Errington Arms pub, which would probably be easier for everyone to find?

chambers
18-03-2008, 09:35 PM
got a map mate and I will change the link

Hitty86
18-03-2008, 09:38 PM
this 1?

Errington Arms
Stagshaw
Corbridge

Moog
18-03-2008, 09:42 PM
The car park which is marked on the map is the one in the market square wich is pretty small (about 10 spaces)and will be busy on a sat, the one on the other side of the tyne is bigger. I've marked it here:

*removed*

Moog
18-03-2008, 09:43 PM
thats the one.

chambers
18-03-2008, 09:43 PM

Moog
18-03-2008, 09:46 PM

elniniol999
18-03-2008, 09:48 PM

elniniol999
18-03-2008, 09:53 PM

chambers
18-03-2008, 09:54 PM

18-03-2008, 09:55 PM

chambers

Moog
18-03-2008, 09:58 PM

elniniol999
18-03-2008, 09:58 PM

chambers
18-03-2008, 10:03 PM

I'm pretty gutted coz i was looking forward to meeting you lot. I still may be able to meet you at some point as the area i work does include the kielder area so if i'm up there i'll give chambers a call. I'll be the one in a Openreach telecoms van.

Sorry lads.

Pics

When we arrived we were greated by £12,000 worth of vulture that had escpaed from the bird of prey centre and was in the car park

The turn out (the middle one wasnt strictly part of the turn out it was just one we parked next to to make it look like we had more people

And a couple of quick scenic shots from the way back, please note that I simply cant shoot scenery. Aslo at the top of the scenic view point looked like there was a chavy camping meet for $axo's as there were there with their tents and hoodies lol

Hitty86
30-03-2008, 03:44 PM
