The GT is basically a VTR which has had all the fun stuff taken off mate. i.e:
Air Con
Spare Wheel
Washer Bottle (the one on the GT is smaller)
Side Skirts
Front Fog Lamps
its all to save weight. The GT also has a manual gearbox, whereas a VTR only come with the Sensodrive 'box over here. The GT is also a ltd. Edition and only 2250 were sold in the UK only.
As for a VTS with the S1600 parts - DO IT! :D

Which would win in a race? Gt or VTS, unmodded.

VTS for sure, as it is 122HP engine compared to GT which is 110HP.

Not much. VTS to 60mph goes around 8,3 sec, and GT goes 9,2. Compared to 1.6 VTR 10,9.

not much difference really. the VTS would win, but only by a gnats cock.

Standard GT has been clocked 0-60 in 8.5s, would be down to the driver, GT is lighter but VTS has more torque, there is goin to be a shoot out soon on a 1/4 mile track.

Those are the given figures :)
Actual measerements tell us other things ...
VTR 9.5 sec to 60 (TESTED!!!)
GT and VTS are not that much difference in performance in the tests ...
Here a belgium magazine tested the VTS and they didn't get any lower than 9sec to 60!!!
GT i don't have any figures from, but it's a little bit faster then the VTR so i guess also around 9sec ...

Don't think so. It depend how you looks at that. 1 sec is huge difference :)

In "TOP GEAR" road tests
0-62mph - Top speed
1.1i - 14.4secs - 98mph
1.4i - 14.1secs - 105mph
1.6i VTR - 10.9secs - 121mph
1.4HDi - 13.5secs - 103mph
1.6i VTS - 08.3secs - 126mph
No road test for the GT, for now :P

That's quite similar to those fabric measurements.

GT and VTS can hardly be separated. 1 second for best part of £2K... right...
What are the list price differences between the GT/VTR/VTS?
Hoping the new model (when it arrives, not a facelift, new model!) is as sharp looking as the current one I'm looking to get a VTS. But not for a few years yet. Only just turned 18, my 1.1 will do for now :).

I thought the 1.4 was 12ish seconds :?
I think the Gt is a very good car - its a C2 of course. I had the choice to buy both the Gt or a VTS. In the end the only reason i brought a VTS was because it came with buttons, buzzers and AC. Obviously if u want a fast car then buy the fastest which is the VTS, because that is what its supposed to be and was designed for. If u want a fast better value car (for those not wanting buttons, buzzers and AC) buy the GT.
At the end of the day the choice between a GT and a VTS should really have less to do about speed and more to do about what U want. Both cars are good and fun.

All i can say is that is bobbins info from TG.
Our furio has hit 121mph verified on GPS before now ona private track so dont know how they can be 16mph down...

I chose the VTR over the GT (before the VTS was out) because I wanted the electric gadgets and the Senso. If it came with AC I might have been tempted for a red GT even with the manual box, but no AC so no deal.

Jeremy, i chose the GT for the exact opposite reasons, i wanted the manual as i'd heard some nightmare stories about the sensodrive, i thought aircon would be pointless here in the UK and + i like the fact the GT is a limited edition, and i think it looks a little sharper than the VTR.
As ste699 said, there's an obvious power advantage in the VTS, but probably not as much as you might think.

For a start, we can only get the VTR in Australia. Would be lucky if I get to see another one on the road in a week. So, have no other models to compare performance to.
However, have had a little bit of fun dragging off a Toyota Corolla (heavily modded, this thing had a 4" pipe hanging off it's arse end). Beat him off the lights, twice. Second time he was some three cars behind. Sensodrive didn't miss a beat. Next time I might just red line it & have a bit more fun.

Isn't the GT's engine the same as for example the newer xsara 1.6 engine with 110hp?? Thats what ive been seein.
As in the VTS engine is the "same" as in Peugeot 106 GTI, different cams and stuff ??
Does anyone have any facts?
EDIT: heh.. all the GT folks are saying its the same, but i doubt it.. come on.. a seconds difference from 0-60 is a big one in real life.
All the 1.6 engines are the same block as a 206 xsi, just with a different head on - i so i belive.
The engine in the GT, VTR, VTS is essentially the same engine. The VTS has different cam profiles and different ECU maps as well as a different throttle body i.e. metal

I think the bottom line is it would really come down to the driver, 15BHP is really very little, especially when put on a road with some twists.
0-60 times are a pointless figure, we dont live on drag strips. My old punto would do around a low 7 second 0-60 on a dry day but put it on a country road with a GT and it'd be left wheezing because it wasnt a very good drivers car at all.

id like to try my C3 Exclusive out on a test track to see what it can do The C2 VTR can get 0 -62 mph a second quicker than my C3 due to the weight and can do 121mh where as mine can only do 119mph. I noticed the C3 1.6HDi 16v 110BHP can get 0 - 62mph quicker than some of the manual C3s but it can only do 112mph
