Default Funtime's C2 GT and House project log

After spending a lot of time looking at all you folk's great looking cars I want to make a progress log of the work I will be doing over the next long time on my Citroen C2 GT #0372

    C2 GT.jpg

List of some upcoming jobs to do:
Timing belt change, new NGK spark plugs,Oil and Filter change, 5 year Coolant, New Battery cover, fix front mud guard, glue down rain channel on passenger side,Replace bulb behind heater controls, new short aerial, stick down trim around angel eye headlights and in engine bay, new horn.

I hope to be posting photos and stuff in the upcoming weeks and months, the above is just a short list which will no doubt be added to as I go along!

Today, following the sticky guide by ChrisJ1992 which can be found here: http://c2club.co.uk/showthread.php?1...ht=heater+bulb

I pretty much did everything in this guide, apart from Step 3 in which you are supposed to use a screwdriver to prise open clips, I was unable to do this, as I could not tell where the clips were, and so I forced it by pushing the panel from the front (pushing towards the bonnet)

    GT 1.jpgGT 2.jpg

I didnt take a lot of photos, but the first shows the step where the screws have been removed and I am having difficulty unclipping it XD the second photo shows both bulbs working.

Also an important note to avoid frustration, when I had replaced the blown bulb I plugged everything back in, and the bulb which had been fine had blown! So I had to make my third trip to halfords in 24 hours lol XD So always buy spares is the lesson I have learned today

Today I went to the shop, bought some super glue with a view to glueing down the rain channel trim on the passenger side, as it was sticking up at the front, so I looked at the drivers side for visual comparison to see exactly what it is supposed to look like, I noticed that the drivers side trim not only was flush with the roof, it was also more forward towards the windscreen than the passenger side. I went to the back of the car and this was the same. So I literally pushed the trim with one finger to see if it would move, and the whole thing slid forward and clicked in properly under the trim at the top of the windscreen! I tried to move it again to make sure it was secure and it was! Easiest fix I have ever done lol!

Btw if anyone is interested, I have photos on my facebook of another car project I have been doing for my girlfriends parents, its a Toyota Celica GT, here is a link:

Removed the old c2club.co.uk logo today, just used a hairdryer to heat it up and a bingo card to peel it off. Then used alcohol gel to get the residue off, and glass cleaner to clean the whole thing up! Ready to stick on the new logo now

Although I wasted my first of the new decals because i didnt heat it for long enough with the hairdryer so not all the letters came on to the transfer strip, got a spare though so that could be tomorrows job

    Default Led Sidelights mystery

    1.jpg2.jpg

Ok, so as some of you may know, ive been having problems with my led sidelight bulbs, I couldnt work out why the bulbs werent working, (the angel eyes were put in before I bought the car) so I took an led out, inspected it, I couldn't tell if it was blown or not, as there doesnt seem to be a filament to inspect. The metal wires seemed to be bent away from the body of the bulb though. Anyway, I used my voltage meter and it read 12.3 volts.

So im wondering if there is a difference in shape, size or design of the bulbs. Because I think that the bulbs I have in are 3v rather than the 12v ones which would seem to be required.

Also one of my Tshape halo bulbs has blown, but it is going to get done soon!
    More to follow!

Hey I am just a recently joined member and reading up on other peoples mods atm and stumbled across this. But i believe LED's dont have filaments, its a diode that emits light. (Light Emitting Diode) . Try swapping the connector spades around. Its common for filament bulbs to run the opposite way to LED's. Or try turning the LED around as they only work one way.

Hi Craig, My last car was an astra, the c2 is luxury to change bulbs in comparitively lol XD I had to turn the wheels the opposite way and then in front of the tyres there was a little flap to fit your hand in remove a rubber cap and try to manouvre your hand in a tiny space lol XD Im quite a big guy so my hands arent exactly dainty lol XD

Hello Gmac, i was unsure about filaments, but also unsure as to how diodes work exactly, thanks for the info! I think i see what you are saying about the connector spades, although the connector is only for leds, and i tried it both ways, they seem to blown and also old going by the general condition of them. Thanks though

That sounds like a good idea, these headlights are kinda doing my nut in atm. My led's are all not working, the volt meter says the current is 12v in them...

I was looking on ebay for a 12v led tshape for my angel eye halo, and it said that if a 12v one is put into a 3v circuit then it will shine yellow. All of mine shine yellow, so does that mean they are 12v bulbs and only the halos are 3v and my leds are 12v? I think im gonna have to buy at least one of each to figure this out!

    Default Side light LED progress

Tonight a friend and I used 2 led bulbs to replace the badly corroded and blown LED sidelights previously in. The leds I used are 12v capless style leds. There was flickering from the passenger side bulb which seemed to be caused by a loose wire. The other connectors I tried the bulbs in did not work, this could be down to the wiring or the corrosion on the inside of the bulb carriers caused by the old bulbs being in there for too long. Either way progress is being made photos:

    IMAG0137.jpgIMAG0138.jpgIMAG0139.jpg

I actually really like the contrast of the bright white of the LEDs and the yellow of the halo rings, which I believe is caused by my lights being on two circuits, a 12v (for the leds) and a 3v (for the halo rings) done before I bought the car unfortunetly as its caused me a headache for the last two weeks lol XD why its on 2 circuits is beyond me. But progress was nonetheless made tonight and I have 4 more bulbs and a tshape for the halo to complete the quota of bulbs! The next step I think is to clean the bulb carriers to hopefully make the connection better between the bulbs and the power

Default Oil Filter, oil and Spark Plugs Changed

Today with the help of my dad (big shout out to Funtime snr lol) I changed my oil filter, oil and spark plugs. Nothing really to note apart from the drain plug in the oil filter housing was blocked, but we just wiped the oil in the housing up with a rag. Also one of the torx screw heads under the rocker cover has obviously been chewed up by a previous owner being too heavy handed putting it back on. Apart from that, nothing really of note.photos:

Default Horn still not working, but progress made!

My horn has not worked in the time I have owned my car, so today I put some progress towards making it work lol XD First thing I checked today was the fuse for the horn, it didnt look blown when I looked at it, but I replaced it anyway just to make sure, the horn still doesnt work, so the next step is to see whether there is a current going to the horn, then replace the horn if there is a current going to it (which I hope there is cos there will be enough wiring sorting going on with my angel eyes lol XD)

The cursor is over the fuse in the diagram which is for the horn
